Location: (Hybrid)ILRI, Nairobi Campus
Join us for the IFPRI Development Economics Africa Seminar (IDEAS) Series Special Event. The series is supported by the CGIAR Policy Innovations Science Program and aims to foster knowledge exchange and research collaboration in development economics and other related disciplines.
Prof. Craig McIntosh, University of California, San Diego, will be our speaker and will be presenting a session on "Increasing small-scale farmers’ access to agricultural markets".
The presentation will cover a new policy insight from the Agricultural Technology Adoption Initiative (JPAL and CEGA) that discusses recent evidence from several randomized control trials (RCTs) on enhancing market access for small-scale farmers in low- and middle-income countries. The presentation focuses on six types of market interventions (transport infrastructure, contract farming, input access, storage and credit, quality certification, and buyer and seller marketplaces) and will include evidence from specific evaluations as well as a discussion on spillover and general equilibrium effects.
The session will be both virtual and in person at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), Nairobi Campus, Naivasha Road.
