The Kenya Strategy Support Program (KSSP) is a policy research, capacity strengthening and policy communication program with the main objectives to accelerate poverty reduction and to improve food security. KSSP is a program of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) with key team members based in Nairobi to provide support to the Government of Kenya, local and international partners. Main partners are the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA), and the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperatives (MALFC).
The policy research focuses on areas related to development strategies; markets, trade and institutions; poverty, health and nutrition; and the environment and climate change. The main goals of capacity building include offering specialized training programs to partner institutions to strengthen the skills of their staff in under-taking applied policy research and linking with key training and technical partners, such as local universities and think tanks to equip partners and stakeholders with needed analytical capacity. Policy communication activities are based on research-based findings and disseminated through publications, workshops, social media and policy dialogues. The activities under the KSSP are funded by ONE CGIAR and international partners.
